Sep 21, 2019

Our mental health encompasses our psychological, emotional & social well being, so it is very essential that the mind should remain healthy of the students. Surat has no dedicated movement or classroom education to create awareness. In India there is 90% treatment gap for those living with mental illness . In our school, therefore we have taken a forward step to see that children are healthy mentally so they are not depressed emotionally & mentally.

Mrs Anisha Jhunjhunwala – emotional wellness coach was invited to our school to conduct session on how to remain healthy mentally & to help eliminate the stigma towards the mental health issues and become a part of change, on 19th September,2019.

She started the session with a warm up exercise for the students then she introduced four enemies i.e. depression, anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) & borderline personality disorder (BPD). She also explained the students about the difference between a psychologist & psychiatrist.

To find out whether a person is suffering from mental health problems, she gave the following three clues 1) Thoughts, 2) Feelings & 3) Behaviour.

Lastly she said that such problems should be taken as responsibility of every individual to live a healthy life.
